"The classical antiquity is deemed to be the cradle of occidental culture and it is formative for both our understanding of art and our viewing habits.
I am fascinated by the Greeks mythologic world view and their skill to transfer existential questions of mankind into figurative sculpture and thus providing an explanation of the world.
As countless artists at all times I am keen on studying classical models, on reviving and reinventing them.
At Art Basel 2017 I will present paraphrases on those classical models. Woodcut reliefs will be hanging on the walls opposite to a number of wooden sculptures positioned inside the booth. All objects will be set in relationship to one another and thus providing reference points in form and content.
My work refers to the cultural history of the classical era and it aims to show the validity of figurative language."
